Ketoconazole works by blocking the enzyme lanosterol demethylase, which is essential in the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol. Without sufficient ergosterol, the fungal cell membrane becomes compromised, leading to increased membrane permeability and disruption of essential cellular functions. This disruption inhibits the growth and replication of fungi, ultimately leading to their death.

This medication is used to treat:

• Vaginal candidiasis
• Oral candidiasis
• Cryptococcal meningitis
• Candidemia
• Systemic fungal infections
• Fungal infection prevention

Ketoconazole (lotion) dosage recommendations are:

• Apply a thin layer of the lotion to the affected area of the skin once or twice daily, depending on the severity of the infection and the specific instructions provided by your healthcare provider.

In case of overdose, contact a healthcare professional. Overuse may cause skin irritation or unwanted side effects. Follow medical advice.

If you miss an application, apply the lotion as soon as you remember. If it is close to the next application, skip the missed dose. Do not use extra to make up for a missed application.

It is not indicated for the treatment of cutaneous dermatophyte infections, onychomycosis, or Candida infections.
• Extra care is necessary when administering the medication to children.
• Special considerations are required during pregnancy and lactation (topical use).
