Vitamin D analogs

Used to treat:

• management of hypocalcemia
• secondary hyperparathyroidism
• osteodystrophy in renal patients
• osteomalacia
• rickets

Take as per doctor's prescription

Overdose may present with hypercalcemia, hyperphosphatemia and hypercalciuria. Seek medical help in case of overdose

In case you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. Skip it if it is nearly time for your next dose

Take it with a full glass of water and swallow whole.

Should not be given to patients with evidence of vitamin D toxicity or patients with hypercalcemia

Consult a doctor in case of:

• hives
• difficulty breathing
• swelling on face
• chest pain

• constipation
• nausea
• stomach pain
• headache

Response to alfacalcidol may be impaired if the diet is markedly deficient in calcium

Do not use with:

• budesonide
• calcifediol
• calcitriol
