Description
It contains Amlodipine and Telmisartan as its active ingredients. Amlodipine: Antianginal Agent; Antihypertensive; Calcium Channel Blocker; Calcium Channel Blocker, Dihydropyridine. Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium antagonist it acts by inhibiting the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscles this mechanism leads to a reduction in peripheral vascular resistance, resulting in a decrease in blood pressure. Telmisartan: angiotensin II Receptor Blocker is an antihypertensive agent, It works by blocking the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone secretory effects of angiotensin II, to treat the tightening of blood vessels. As a result, blood vessels are relaxed and this phenomenon increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart. -

Dosage
Dose must be taken according to doctor’s advice only; doses given below are suggested as supportive literature for better understanding in some areas of requirements. General Recommendation Start the dose with 5mg/40mg or 10mg/80mg once a day. You may increase the dose after at least 2 weeks, but do not exceed 10mg/80mg a day Dosage range for both the drugs is: amlodipine 2.5-10mg/Telmisartan 20-80 mg orally in a day. Dosage profile for Amlodipine is: Children <6 years: Oral initial dose is; 0.1 mg/kg/dose once daily; maximum daily dose is 0.6 mg/kg/day or 5 mg/day. Children; ≥6 years and Adolescents: Oral initial dose is; 2.5 mg once daily; maximum daily dose is 10 mg/day. Adult dose: Initial starting dose is 2.5mg once daily, then 5-10mg once daily, maximum daily dose is 10mg once daily. Dosage profile for Telmisartan is: Telmisartan: for adults and age above 18 years; for high blood pressure, initial dose is 40mg once daily, maintenance dose is 20-80mg once daily. 55 years and above: To reduce the risk of a heart attack, stroke, or death from heart disease in people of 55 years and older who are not able to use angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, the typical dose is 80mg, once daily. -
In case of Overdose
Hemodialysis is not useful in case of overdose. Contact your doctor in case of overdose as it may cause hypotension. -
Missed Dose
In case you missed any dose, take the next dose as soon as you remember, but don't double your next dose to compensate for the missed one. -

When Not to Use
AMLODIPINE can not be given in: hypersensitivity to amlodipine or any component, hypersensitivity to other dihydropyridines,hemodynamically unstable heart failure after acute myocardial infarction, obstruction of the outflow tract of the left ventricle, severe hypotension, hyperglycerolemia. Telmisartan: acts directly on the renin-angiotensin system and can result in injury and death of developing fetus. -

Precautions & Warnings
AMLODIPINE should be given with caution in patients of: aortic stenosis, heart failure, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with left ventricular outflow tract obstruction, heart failure. Pregnancy safe: Amlodipine can cross the placenta and result in birth defects, so this medication could only be continued in pregnancy after doctor’s advice. It could be present in breast milk. Telmisartan: angioedema may occur with its use, Hyperkalemia (due to renal disk function or concomitant use of potassium sparing diuretics or potassium containing drugs) and hypotension may also occur with its use. Care should be taken in cardiac or renal impaired conditions. -

High-potassium foods must be avoided during use of this medicine. -
