  • Description

Brimonidine, a highly selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist, works by activating these receptors in the eye's ciliary body. This activation leads to a decrease in aqueous humor production, which is primarily achieved through the activation of postsynaptic alpha-2 receptors. The reduction in aqueous humor production is believed to be mediated by decreased production of cyclic AMP via inhibition of adenylate cyclase. By reducing the amount of fluid produced within the eye, brimonidine helps lower intraocular pressure, making it effective in managing conditions like glaucoma and ocular hypertension.

  • In case of Overdose

In the case of an overdose of Brimonidine Drops, it is important to recognize the potential severity of the situation. The eyes may experience heightened sensitivity, accompanied by a stinging or burning sensation. Additionally, symptoms such as dizziness, lightheadedness, and fatigue may manifest. Promptly seek medical advice or assistance to ensure appropriate management of the overdose and to prevent any potential adverse effects on the eyes or overall health.

  • Missed Dose

In the case of a missed dose of Brimonidine eye drops, it is important to administer the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, it is best to skip the missed dose to avoid any potential side effects. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one, as this may increase the risk of adverse reactions. If you frequently miss doses, consider setting reminders or using a pill organizer to help you stay on track with your medication schedule. Consult your healthcare provider if you have any concerns or questions about missed doses.
