- Prevention and treatment of calcium oxalate kidney stones, and urinary excretion of calcium phosphate crystals

When Not to Use
Do not use in case of:
- It should not be used in patients with chronic metabolic acidosis (e.g., renal failure).
- Avoid use in patients with hypocalcemia or hyperkalemia (may produce potassium exacerbation of cardiac dysrhythmias).
- Contraindicated in patients with hypernatremia and severe metabolic alkalosis, and in those with hypocalcemia (may cause calcium carbonate deposition).
- Sodium bicarbonate should be used cautiously in patients with hyperkalemia or in those with renal impairment.
