Daktarin (20mg/g) 20g Oral Gel

This medication is used to treat fungal infections and gram-positive type of bacterial infections that attack the skin. The gel contains 2% miconzaole. It works by destroying the gram-positive bacteria, pathogenic yeasts and dermatophytes that attack the skin.

Antifungal

This medicine is used to treat these fungal infections:

• Tinea Pedis (Athlete's Foot)
• Ringworm
• Jock Itch
• Fungal infections of the skin (candidiasis)

Follow these dosage instructions:

• Take as per doctor's Prescription.
• Apply the gel to the affected area topically, once or twice daily as recommended by the doctor.
• Your doctor will determine the duration of treatment based on the symptom severity.

If you think you have used too much of this medicine, talk to your doctor.

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don't remember missing the dose, don't double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

Wash your hands before using the cream, gel, or ointment. Apply the gel topically on the affected area once or twice a day for at least 1-2 weeks.

You should not use this medicine if you have:

• Problems with calcium levels in the body
• You are a lactating mother
• If you ever had an allergic reaction to Calcipotriol or any other medicine
• Don't use this mediciation for infants under 4 months of age.

This medication may pose these side effects:

• Sudden swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
• Difficulty swallowing
• Hives
• Severe irritation
• Reddening or blistering of your skin
• Small pus-containing pimples (with a fever) or blistering of your skin, mouth, eyes and genitals
• Lightheadedness
• Generalized itch
• Wheezing or difficulty breathing
• Loss or abnormal sense of taste

You should practice these cautions before taking the medicine:

• Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant and there’s no safer alternative available.
• Talk to your doctor if you have a hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to any of the components in the medicine.
• Talk to your doctor if you have a liver or kidney disease before using the medicine.
• Be careful while applying the gel near the eye areas, mucous membranes such as those around the mouth, and avoid inhaling it.

This medicine may interact with following drugs:

• Terfenadine
• Astemizole or mizolastine
• Cisapride
• Lovastatin or simvastatin
• Midazolam (by mouth) or triazolam
• Pimozide or sertindole
• Quinidine or dofetilide
• Ergotamine
• Warfarin
• Phenytoin

Store the medicine at a controlled room temperature. Keep the medication away from bright lights, moisture, and children.
