Clindamycin phosphate is an antibiotic that is used to treat acne by stopping the growth of bacteria on the skin. It decreases toxin production and increases microbial opsonization and phagocytosis even at subinhibitory concentrations

Anti-bacterial

Used to treat:

• acne vulgaris
• fine wrinkles, rough skin and dark spots
• respiratory tract infections
• skin infections

The following dosage schedule may be followed:

• The usual dose is 150mg every 6 hours, or as directed by the healthcare provider.
• Dosage may vary based on the specific infection being treated.

In case of overdose, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms may include severe stomach pain, persistent vomiting, or changes in the amount of urine.

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next scheduled dose then the missed dose can be skipped.

Take clindamycin orally with a full glass of water with or without food

Do not use in case of:

• Do not use in the presence of a known allergy to clindamycin or lincomycin.
• Avoid use in individuals with a history of colitis, Crohn's disease, or ulcerative colitis.

Side effects include:

• skin irritation, dryness or redness
• burning or stinging sensation
• itching or rash
• increased sensitivity to light
• blisters or scaling
• nausea, vomiting or diarrhea

Precautions include:

• Use with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases.
• May cause overgrowth of non-susceptible bacteria, leading to superinfection.

Potential interactions with:

• Other antibiotics
• Neuromuscular-blocking drugs
• Medications affecting liver enzymes.
