The primary action of risperidone is to decrease dopaminergic and serotonergic pathway activity in the brain, therefore decreasing symptoms of schizophrenia and mood disorders. Risperidone has a high binding affinity for serotonergic 5-HT2A receptors when compared to dopaminergic D2 receptors in the brain.

Seek immediate help in case of overdose as serious complications can occur

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don't remember missing the dose, don't double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

Swallow with a glass of water with or without food. It is better to take right after meals

Do not use in case of:

• allergy to constituents
• elderly patients with dementia

Common side effects include:

• weight gain
• body shakes
• difficulty moving
• feeling sleepy
• headaches

Use care no to become over-heated as it can increase risks for strokes
