Duodart (0.5/0.4mg) 30 Capsules

This medicine is used to treat enlarged prostrate in males. It contains Tamsulosin Dutasteride, which is an alpha-reductase inhibitor. It works by blocking the production of a natural substance that enlarges the prostate.

5-alpha Reductase Inhibitors

This medicine is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). It reduces the associated symptoms, such as:

• Acute urinary retention
• Unsteady or obstructed urine flow
• Weak urine stream
• Pain and discomfort
• An increase in urinary frequency and urgency

Note

This medicine is only for men, women and children cannot use it. The recommended dosage is one capsule daily.

If you think you have used too much of this medicine, talk to your doctor. Seek medical emergency help immediately.

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don't remember missing the dose, don't double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

Take the capsule daily after meals, as your doctor has recommended. Do not take the capsule on an empty stomach. Take the medication regularly and simultaneously each day to get the most benefit from it.

This medicine is contraindicated in these circumstances:

• Women and children cannot use it.
• Patients with hypersensitivity to dutasteride, other 5-alpha reductase inhibitors, tamsulosin, soya, peanut, or any of the other excipients should not use it.

Common side effects include:

• Impotence (an inability to maintain an erection)
• Decrease in libido (sex drive)
• Difficulty with ejaculation
• Difficulty in sleeping (insomnia)
• Dizziness
• Constipation
• Diarrhea
• Vomiting
• A fast heartbeat

Follow these precautions and warnings before starting the medication:

• Talk to your doctor if you have any allergic reaction or known hypersensitivity to any medicine components.
• This medicine may cause dizziness or a sudden drop in blood pressure. Therefore, avoid driving and other activities requiring alertness while taking this medication.
• Please avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medication.

Dutasteride-tamsulosin should not be used in combination with other alpha1-adrenoceptor antagonists.

Store the medicine at room temperature and keep out of direct sunlight, excessive heat, and moisture. Keep the medicine out of the reach of children and animals. Do not use the medication past its expiration date.
