Estezene (5mg) 100 Tablets

This medication is used to treat mental disorders. It contains Trifluoperazine, an antipsychotic, that acts by postsynaptic inhibition of dopamine receptors. It has other peripheral and central nervous system effects, producing alpha-adrenergic stimulation and blocking histamine- and serotonin-mediated effects.

Antipsychotics

This medication is used to treat mental/mood disorders, such as:

• Schizophrenia
• Other psychotic disorders

Follow these dosage instructions:

• Outpatient dosage

The recommended dose should be 1-2mg orally twice daily, 12 hours apart.

• Inpatient Dosage

The initial dose should be 2-5mg orally twice daily

Symptoms of overdose may include:

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don't remember missing the dose, don't double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

Take one tablet per day, with or without food as your doctor has recommended. Swallow the tablet with water and don't chew it. Take the medication regularly and at the same time each day to get the most benefit from it.

This medication is contraindicated in following circumstances:

• Pregnancy
• Lactation
• Comatose states
• Bone marrow depression
• Liver damage
• Blood disorders
• Uncontrolled cardiac failure

Common side effects include:

• Decreased WBCs and platelets
• Increased Prolactin Hormone
• Muscle Tone and Movement abnormalities
• Drowsiness, insomnia, dizziness
• Increased heart rate and decreased blood pressure
• Blurred vision
• Loss of appetite
• Depression
• Photosensitivity
• Convulsions
• Blood disorders

You should understand these cautions before taking the medicine:

• Talk to your doctor if you have hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to any of the components in the medicine.
• Talk to your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease.
• Do not consume alcohol while taking this medication.
• Withdraw from this medicine gradually, and not at once.

This medicine may interact with the following drugs:

• Strong painkillers (e.g. codeine)
• Medicines that result in lowering of blood pressure (e.g. guanethidine)
• Anticholinergic medicines used to reduce saliva and lung secretions (e.g. atropine, procyclidine)
• Antidepressants (e.g. other phenothiazines, lithium)
• Medicines for fits (anticonvulsants)
• Medicines for Parkinson’s disease (e.g. levodopa)
• Blood-thinning medicines (anticoagulants such as warfarin)
• Medicines used to treat iron poisoning (desferrioxamine)
• Antacids used to treat indigestion
• Medicines for psychiatric conditions (neuroleptics)
• Heart medicines that prolong the QT interval (e.g quinidine, disopyramide, procainamide, amiodarone, sotalol)
• Drugs causing electrolyte imbalances (e.g. diuretics).

Store the medicine at room temperature and keep out of direct sunlight, excessive heat, and moisture. Keep the medicine out of the reach of children and animals. Do not use the medication past its expiration date.
