Ispaghula husk is a laxative taken to treat constipation. It works by bulking stool up with fluid so that it's softer.

Ispaghula Husk seeds are used to treat constipation and upset stomach.

Fybogel is a high-fiber drink that you take in the morning and evening, preferably after a meal. It usually takes 2 or 3 days to work. When taking this type of laxative, it's important to drink plenty of fluids.

Overdose with ispaghula husk may cause abdominal discomfort, flatulence, and intestinal obstruction. Seek emergency medical help if you think you have taken too much of these seeds.

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don't remember missing the dose, don't double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

Take the contents of each sachet of ispaghula husk stirred into a glass of water (about 150 ml). Drink it straightaway after mixing.

Do not take Ispaghula Husk if you have:

• Stomach or intestinal blockage
• Appendicitis
• Swallowing problems
• Rectal bleeding
• Diabetes
• Phenylketonuria
• Reduced bowel movements

Common side effects include:

• Flatulence
• Bloating
• Mild allergic reactions such as itchy eyes, nose, or skin.

Rare but serious side effects include bleeding from the anus.

You should practice these cautions before taking the medicine:

• Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant or lactating, and there’s no safer alternative available.
• Talk to your doctor if you have hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to any of the components in the medicine.
• Talk to your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease.
• Taking ispaghula husk, especially in high doses, might result in kidney and liver impairment.

Store the medicine at room temperature and keep out of direct sunlight, excessive heat, and moisture. Keep the medicine out of the reach of children and animals. Do not use the medication past its expiration date.
