Fucort (20mg) 15g Ointment

This medicine is mainly used to treat bacterial infections. It contains fusidic acid, also known as sodium fusidate. It is an antibiotic that stops the bacteria from growing and spreading infection.

Steroidal Antibiotic

This medicine is used to treat bacterial infections (staphylococcal), such as:

• Skin infections (cellulitis, impetigo, infected eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis)
• Eye infections including conjunctivitis (red, itchy eyes)
• Infected hair follicles
• Infected wounds
• Infection around the nails

Follow these dosage instructions:

• Take as per doctor's Prescription.
• Apply the cream/ointment 2-3 times daily for at least a period of two weeks.
• Your doctor will determine the treatment length based on your symptom severity.

Overdose is unlikely to occur.

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don't remember missing the dose, don't double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

Wash your hands properly before using the cream/ointment. Apply as per your doctor’s directions. Do not apply a double layer over your skin. Avoid contact with eyes.

Unless your doctor has told you to, do not apply creams/ointments containing Fusidic Acid on:

• Open wounds or sensitive areas such as nostrils, genitals, ears, or lips.
• Thin skin, skin ulcers, broken veins, or active acne.

Do not use fusidic acid if

• You have a known hypersensitivity or are allergic to fusidic acid.
• You have bacterial skin conditions due to syphilis or tuberculosis.

Common side effects include:

• Skin itching, burning sensation, pain in the area where the medicine is applied
• Worsening of the eczema
• Skin redness, inflammation, hives

Follow these precautions and warnings before starting the medication:

• Talk to your doctor if you have any allergic reaction or known hypersensitivity to any medicine components.
• If you are pregnant, talk to your doctor before using this medicine.
• If you are a lactating mother, talk to your doctor.
• If you use ointments containing Fusidic Acid for more than 14 days, the bacteria may become resistant to the antibiotic. Talk to your doctor in detail.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for any drug interactions. Share with them all the medications you've been taking to rule out the possibility of any drug interaction with Fusidic Acid.

Store the medicine at room temperature and keep out of direct sunlight, excessive heat, and moisture. Keep the medicine out of the reach of children and animals. Do not use the medication past its expiration date.
