Product Information
Esomeprazole, the active ingredient in the 40mg capsule, specifically targets and inhibits the proton pump in the stomach's parietal cells. This mechanism of action is crucial in suppressing gastric acid secretion. By binding to the proton pump, esomeprazole blocks the exchange of potassium ions for hydrogen ions, thereby reducing the production of stomach acid. This inhibition occurs at the final stage of acid secretion, making it highly effective in controlling gastric acidity and providing relief from conditions associated with excess stomach acid.
