Esomeprazole is utilized for the following therapeutic indications:
Dose must be taken according to the doctor’s advice only; doses given below are suggested as supportive literature for better understanding in some areas of requirements. Adult dose: For gastric ulcer: 20 or 40mg one time a day for up to 6 months. To treat duodenal ulcers with H. pylori infection: 40mg one time a day for 10 days. Your doctor may adjust the dose when he would recommend this drug along with amoxicillin and clarithromycin to treat H. pylori infection. To treat erosive esophagitis: 20 or 40mg one time a day for 4 to 8 weeks. To prevent the reoccurrence of erosive esophagitis, doctor may recommend taking 20mg once a day for up to 6 months. To treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): 20mg one time a day for 4 weeks. To treat Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: 40mg 2 times a day. For oral dosage form (prolonged-release 24 hour capsules): To treat heartburn; Adults 20mg one time a day for 14 days. Child dose: To treat erosive esophagitis: For children of age 12 to 17; 20 or 40mg one time a day for 4 to 8 weeks. For children of age 1 to 11 years; weighing 20kg or more, 10 or 20mg one time a day for 8 weeks. Children of 1 to 11 years of age and weighing less than 20 kg; 10mg one time a day for 8 weeks. Children of 1 month to less than 1 year of age and weighing more than 7.5 kg to 12 kg; 10mg one time a day for up to 6 weeks. Children of 1 month to less than 1 year of age and weighing more than 5 kg to 7.5 kg; 5mg one time a day for up to 6 weeks. Children of 1 month to less than 1 year of age and weighing 3 kg to 5 kg; 2.5mg once a day for up to 6 weeks. To treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): Children of 12 to 17 years of age; 20mg one time a day for 4 weeks. Children of age 1 to 11 years; 10mg one time a day for up to 8 weeks.

Over dose of this drug may cause fatigue, nausea, vomiting, headache, and liver and kidney damage. As this drug is plasma protein bound so in this case dialysis is not that useful so your doctor may recommend supportive measures.

If you miss any dose then take the dose as soon as you remember, but if it's the time for the next dose then do not double the dose.
