Hexaxim induces the production of antibodies against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, poliomyelitis and invasive infections caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b

Hexavalent Combination Vaccine

Hexaxim is used to protect babies and toddlers from six weeks of age against the following infectious diseases:

• Diphtheria (a highly contagious disease that affects the throat and skin, and can cause damage to the heart and other organs)
• Tetanus (lockjaw, usually caused by infection of a wound)
• Pertussis (whooping cough)
• Hepatitis B (a viral liver infection)
• Poliomyelitis (polio, a disease that affects the nerves and can lead to muscle weakness or paralysis)
• Invasive diseases (such as meningitis) caused by H. influenzae type b bacteria.

Administer either two doses of Hexaxim, with a two-month interval, or three doses, with a minimum four-week gap. Administer a booster dose at least six months after completing the initial course. Hexaxim or another suitable combination of vaccines can serve as a booster, with the selection based on official recommendations.

Seek medical help if you think you have taken too much of this medication.

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don't remember missing the dose, don't double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

Hexaxim is given by injection into a muscle, usually the front side of the upper thigh or the shoulder muscle in older children.

Hexaxim is contraindicated if the infant has experienced:

• An encephalopathy of unknown etiology, occurring within seven days following previous vaccination with pertussis-containing vaccine (whole cell or acellular pertussis vaccines).
• Moderate or severe fever, though it can still be given to children with low-grade fever or minor infection.

Common side effects include:

• Pain and redness at the injection site
• Irritability
• Crying

To achieve desired therapeutic results, it is important to follow the recommended dosage and duration of treatment or as advised by the doctor .
