HYDANTIC INJ (PHENYTOIN)

This medicine is used to treat seizures. It contains Phenytoin, an anticonvulsant, which prevents seizures by inhibiting the positive feedback loop that results in neuronal propagation of high-frequency action potentials.

Anticonvulsants

This medicine acts on the central nervous system (CNS) to reduce the number and severity of seizures to treat:

• Grand mal epileptic seizures
• Psychomotor seizures

One injection per day is recommended. Follow your doctor's instructions.

Seek medical help immediately if you think you have overdosed on this medicaton.

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don't remember missing the dose, don't double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

Take this medicine with or without food and stay hydrated.

Do not use this medication if:

• You have a hypersensitivity or are allergic to any component of the medicine.
• You have hepatic or renal insufficiency.
• You are a lactating mother.

Common side effects include:

• Gastric (stomach) distress
• Sleeplessness
• Allergic reactions
• Hirsutism (abnormal growth of facial and body hair in women)

Understand these precautions and warnings before starting the medication:

• Take with caution if there has been a history of drug-related allergy
• Don’t operate heavy machinery or do anything that requires alertness.

Ask your doctor about any possible drug interactions, and discuss every medicine you have been taking.

Store the medicine at room temperature and keep out of direct sunlight, excessive heat, and moisture. Keep the medicine out of the reach of children and animals. Do not use the medication past its expiration date.
