    The mechanism of action of hydroxyprogesterone caproate in these uses is suppression of testicular androgen production via suppression of luteinizing hormone secretion, which are the result of the progestogenic and antigonadotropic activity of hydroxyprogesterone caproate.

    Uses include:

    • Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART)

    Cyclogest may help women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) or other assisted reproductive technologies.

    • Threatened Miscarriage

    Cyclogest may be prescribed in cases of threatened miscarriage where there is a concern about inadequate progesterone levels.

    • Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)

    Postmenopausal women undergoing hormone replacement therapy may use cyclogest pessaries as part of their treatment.

    • Endometrial Hyperplasia

    Cyclogest may help in the treatment of endometrial hyperplasia, a condition characterized by the abnormal thickening of the lining of the uterus.

    • Menstrual Irregularities

    In some cases of irregular menstrual cycles or amenorrhea (absence of menstruation), cyclogest may induce a withdrawal bleed.

    • Postnatal Depression

    Cyclogest may help treat postpartum depression. The placenta produces progesterone during pregnancy, and postpartum depression may happen due to a decrease in progesterone levels following delivery.

    Do not use in case of:

    • Known hypersensitivity to the active substances, soybean lecithin, peanut, or to any of the medicine component
    • Known or Past or suspected breast cancer
    • Known or suspected estrogen-dependent malignant tumors (e.g genital tract carcinoma)
    • Undiagnosed genital bleeding
    • Women with rare hereditary blood disorders called porphyrias
    • Women with severe liver disease.
