Lansoprazole is a type of medicine called a proton pump inhibitor, which is the enzyme in the lining of your stomach that helps it make acid to digest food. Lansoprazole prevents proton pumps from working properly. This reduces the amount of acid the stomach makes.

This medicine is used to treat:

• Indigestion
• Heartburn
• Acid reflux and gastroesophageal-reflux-disease (GORD)
• Stomach ulcers
• A rare condition caused by a tumor in the pancreas or gut called Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

Follow these dosage instructions:

• Adult Dosage

15 milligrams (mg) once a day before a meal. Your doctor may adjust your dose as needed.

• Child Dosage

Use and dose must be determined by your doctor.

Seek emergency medical help if you think you have taken too much of this medicine.

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don't remember missing the dose, don't double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

Take lansoprazole once a day, typically in the morning. If you're instructed to take it twice a day, take one dose in the morning and another in the evening. This medication is contraindicated:
