Alginate compound form a viscous gel-like barrier when they come into contact with gastric acid. This gel is composed of alginic acid and forms a physical barrier that floats on top of the stomach contents. This barrier prevents the acidic contents of the stomach from refluxing back into the esophagus, thereby reducing the symptoms of heartburn and protecting the esophageal mucosa from acid damage.Additionally, alginate compounds can enhance the mechanical strength of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) by increasing the pressure at the gastroesophageal junction. Potassium bicarbonate dissociates into potassium (K⁺) and bicarbonate (HCO₃⁻) ions when ingested or administered. The bicarbonate ions act as a buffer, neutralizing excess hydrogen ions (H⁺) in the blood, which raises the pH and helps restore normal acid-base balance. This buffering effect is particularly beneficial in conditions where there is an accumulation of acid or a loss of bicarbonate, such as in renal tubular acidosis or other forms of metabolic acidosis.

Lagita Advance 150ml Suspension dosage recommendations are:

• Indigestion and Heartburn - 5-10 ml taken up to 4 times a day, preferably after meals and at bedtime.
• Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) - 5-10 ml taken up to 4 times a day, preferably after meals and at bedtime.
• Peptic Ulcer Disease - 5-10 ml taken up to 4 times a day, preferably after meals and at bedtime.
• Hiatal Hernia - 5-10 ml taken up to 4 times a day, preferably after meals and at bedtime.
• Dosage Adjustments - For children, 2-12 years 2.5ml to 5ml - the dose should be adjusted based on weight and clinical condition.

• Concomitant administration of aluminum-containing products (e.g., antacids and phosphate binders) and citrates may significantly increase serum aluminum concentrations, resulting in toxicity.
• Citrates or citric acid are found in numerous soft drinks, citrus fruits, juices, and effervescent and dispersible drug formulations.
• Citrates enhance the gastrointestinal absorption of aluminum, possibly through the formation of a soluble aluminum-citrate complex.
• Citrate may increase aluminum absorption by 4.6- to 50-fold in healthy subjects.
• Patients with renal insufficiency are at higher risk of developing hyperaluminemia and encephalopathy, with reported fatalities.
• Patients with renal failure or on hemodialysis may also be at risk from citrates in soft drinks and effervescent drug formulations.
• The effect of citrus fruits or juices on aluminum absorption in healthy patients is unknown.
