Product Information

  • Description

Levetiracetam is an anticonvulsant and intravenous drug used to treat epilepsy and psychiatric disorders. It is used in combination with other anticonvulsants to treat seizures by reducing the excitement of brain cells. It binds to the synaptic vesicle protein 2A (SV2A) and inhibits presynaptic calcium channels, reducing the release of excitatory neurotransmitters. Levetiracetam may also increase the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) by increasing its production and release. The drug is available as immediate-release and extended-release tablets, a liquid oral solution, and an injection.
