  • Description

    Iron polymaltose is a macromolecular complex, consisting of iron(III) hydroxide and the carrier polymaltose and is available in solid form as a film-coated or chewable tablet and in liquid form as a syrup, drinkable solution, or drops. It is used to treat iron deficiency.

    This medicine is used to treat iron deficiency:

    • With anemia (apparent iron deficiency)
    • Without anemia (latent iron deficiency)

  • Dosage

    Follow these dosage instructions:

    • Adult Dosage

    100-300 mg daily as a single dose or in divided doses for approximately 3-5 months until normalization of hemoglobin level is attained. Your doctor may adjust the dose depending on your needs.

    • Child Dosage

    Child dosage is strictly recommended by the doctor.

  • In case of Overdose

    Overdose symptoms include Diarrhea (may contain blood), fever, nausea, stomach pain or cramping (sharp), vomiting, and severe (may contain blood). Seek emergency medical help if you think you have taken too much of this medicine.

  • Missed Dose

    If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don't remember missing the dose, don't double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

    Iron polymaltose is contraindicated in these cases:

    • Known hypersensitivity or intolerance to the active ingredient or one of the excipients.
    • Iron preparations are not administered to treat anemia that is not associated with iron deficiency.
