    This medicine is used to treat several kinds of bacterial infections, such as:

    • Intra-abdominal infections (infections occurring in the abdominal cavity e.g appendicitis or fecal peritonitis)
    • Gynecological infections (infections in the vagina or genital tract)
    • Skin infections
    • Soft tissue infections
    • Meningitis (inflammation of the layer covering the brain)
  • Dosage

    Meropenem injection comes in a powder form that must be mixed with a liquid. It is administered intravenously (into a vein) as a powder. Usually, it's administered every eight hours. The course of treatment is determined by your overall health, the nature of the infection, and how well you react to the medicine. You will be advised by your doctor on how long to use meropenem injection. Your doctor may decide to move you to another antibiotic that you can take orally to finish your treatment once your condition gets better.

  • Missed Dose

    If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don't remember missing the dose, don't double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

    Usually, one injection is administered every eight hours. A medical practitioner administers the injection into the vein. Take the right dosage as per recommended by your doctor. Take the medication regularly and at the same time each day to get the most benefit from it.

    The contraindications for this medication are as follows:

    • Meropenem is contraindicated for use in patients with meropenem hypersensitivity.
    • Meropenem should be used with extreme caution in patients with CNS (central nervous system) disorders.
