The novel antidepressant mirtazapine has a dual mode of action. It is a noradrenergic and specific serotonergic antidepressant (NaSSA) that acts by antagonizing the adrenergic alpha2-autoreceptors and alpha2-heteroreceptors as well as by blocking 5-HT2 and 5-HT3 receptors.

Tetracyclic Antidepressants

Used to treat:

• obsessive compulsive disorder
• depression and anxiety
• major depressive disorder
• insomnia
• panic disorders

Overdose may cause unusual dizziness, dry mouth, severe headaches, seizures, fast heartbeats and severe nausea. Seek immediate help in case of overdose

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don't remember missing the dose, don't double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.
