Telmisartan: angiotensin II Receptor Blocker is an antihypertensive agent, It works by blocking the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone secretory effects of angiotensin II, to treat the tightening of blood vessels. As a result, blood vessels are relaxed and this phenomenon increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart. -

Dosage
Dose must be taken according to the doctor’s advice only; doses given below are suggested as supportive literature for better understanding in some areas of requirements. Dosage profile for Telmisartan is: Telmisartan: for adults and age above 18 years; for high blood pressure, initial dose is 40mg once daily, maintenance dose is 20-80mg once daily. 55 years and above: To reduce the risk of a heart attack, stroke, or death from heart disease in people of 55 years and older who are not able to use angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, the typical dose is 80mg, once daily. -
In case of Overdose
Hemodialysis is not useful in case of overdose. Contact your doctor in case of overdose as it may cause hypotension. -
Missed Dose
In case you missed any dose, take the next dose as soon as you remember, but don't double your next dose to compensate for the missed one. -

Take it orally according to your doctor’s advice. -
When Not to Use
Telmisartan: acts directly on the renin-angiotensin system and can result in injury and death of developing fetus. -

Precautions & Warnings
Telmisartan; angioedema may occur with its use, hyperkalemia (due to renal disk function or concomitant use of potassium sparing diuretics or potassium containing drugs) and hypotension may also occur with its use. Care should be taken in cardiac or renal impaired conditions. -
Food Interactions
High-potassium foods must be avoided during use of Telmisartan. -
