  • Description

Antihypertensive; Selective Beta-1 Blocker. (Nebivolol) is a highly selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist drug It has weak beta-2 adrenergic receptor antagonist activity. When d-nebivolol blocks beta-1 adrenergic, then it results in decreased resting heart rate, myocardial contractility, exercise heart rate, systolic blood pressure, and diastolic blood pressure. The selectivity of d-nebivolol limits the magnitude of beta blocker adverse effects in the airways or relating to insulin sensitivity. (Nebivolol) inhibits aldosterone, and antagonizes beta-1 receptors in the juxtaglomerular apparatus and inhibits the renin release. When aldosterone decreases then blood volume also decreases, and decreased renin results in reduced vasoconstriction. l-nebivolol shows beta-3 adrenergic receptor agonist activity that promotes endothelial nitric oxide synthase, enhances nitric oxide levels; resulting in vasodilation, reduced peripheral vascular resistance, increased stroke volume, ejection fraction, and cardiac output. (Nebivolol) benefits heart failure patients by reducing oxidative stress, decreasing platelet volume and aggregation.
