Surgical Solutions

It is used:

• to convert a bad surgical risk into a safe surgical venture comparatively, when injected intravenously
• preoperatively by mouth or by vein as a preventive of postanesthetic nausea, vomiting and acidosis
• as supportive treatment for traumatic shock

To be administered as per instructions of a healthcare practitioner

Monitor patients for adverse reactions and consult a doctor immediately

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don't remember missing the dose, don't double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

Dextrose injection is given through an IV into a vein. Do not inject this medicine into a muscle or under the skin. The injection should be given only as an intravenous (IV) injection and should be given slowly.

Do not use in case of:

• allergy to drug itself
• intracranial hemorrhage

Common side effects include:

• peripheral edema
• hyperglycemia
• hypokalemia
• pulmonary edema

Use only if the solution is clear and the container has an intact seal

Dextrose has minor interactions with:

• magnesium citrate
• magnesium chloride
• magnesium hydroxide
• magnesium oxide
• magnesium sulphate
