Ponstan Forte (500mg) 200 Tablets

This medicine is used to treat pain and inflammation. It contains Mefenamic Acid, an NSAID, that works by binding the prostaglandin synthetase receptors COX-1 and COX-2, inhibiting the action of prostaglandin synthetase, thereby relieving pain and inflammation.

NSAIDs

This medicine is used to treat mild to moderate pain associated with:

• Heavy periods
• Menstrual cramps
• Headaches, migraine
• Pain in rheumatoid arthritis
• Muscle and joint injuries such as sprains, strains and tendonitis
• Toothaches

Follow these dosage instructions:

• Take as per doctor's Prescription.
• Take one tablet per day as your doctor suggests.
• Your doctor will determine the treatment length based on your symptom severity.

If you think you have used too much of this medicine, talk to your doctor. Seek medical emergency help immediately. Watch out for overdose symptoms like nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, vomiting that is bloody or looks like coffee grounds

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don't remember missing the dose, don't double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

Take one tablet per day, with or without food as your doctor has recommended. Take the medication regularly and at the same time each day to get the most benefit from it.

You should not use this medication if:

• You have an allergy to Mefenamic acid or any of the ingredients on the list, aspirin, or any other NSAID including COX-2 inhibitors
• You have ulcers or diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, heart, kidney, or liver impairments.

Common side effects include:

• Skin rash
• Renal impairment (poor functioning)
• Rise in the level of liver enzymes
• Gastric intolerance to the drug that appears as an upset stomach

It would be best if you practiced these cautions before taking the medicine:

• Talk to your doctor if you have any allergic reaction or known hypersensitivity to any of the medicine components.
• If you are pregnant, talk to your doctor before using this medicine.
• If you are a lactating mother, talk to your doctor.
• This medicine can induce drowsiness, so don't drive while using this medication.

This medicine may interact with these drugs:

• Aspirin
• Warfarin or similar medicines including Eliquis, Xarelto, or Pradaxa
• Medicines used to treat high blood pressure
• Corticosteroids
• Lithium, cyclosporin, or tacrolimus
• Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors

Store the medicine at room temperature and keep out of direct sunlight, excessive heat, and moisture. Keep the medicine out of the reach of children and animals. Do not use the medication past its expiration date.
