Cetirizine is a second generation H1 Antagonist. This selectively inhibits the H1 receptors, which in turn inhibits the synthesis of histamine. It is also a mast cell stabilizer.

Anti-histamine

Used to treat allergies such as:

• irritation of the eyes
• itchy skin
• watery eyes
• itching of the throat
• skin rashes (hives)
• sneezing
• runny nose and flu-like symptoms

Take as per doctor's prescription

Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine. Overdose symptoms may include restlessness, nervousness or feeling drowsy.

In case you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. Skip it if it is nearly time for your next dose.

Shake well before measuring the dose

Do not use if:

• you are pregnant and there are safer aternatives available.
• you have to drive immediately after.

Serious Side Effects include:

• weakness and tremors
• confusion
• uneven heartbeat

Common Side Effects are

• dizziness or feeling drowsy
• dry mouth (xerostomia)
• cough
• nausea and vomiting

Practice caution in case of:

• You are pregnant or breastfeeding
• You have renal insufficiency
• You have epilepsy

Do not use in case you are already using:

• Cetirizine-containing formulations (either topical or oral)
• Other anti-histamines
