  • Description

Omeprazole 20mg tablets work by inhibiting the gastric proton pump, an enzyme responsible for acid production in the stomach. It specifically targets the H+/K+-ATPase pump, which is crucial for the final step of gastric acid secretion. By binding to this pump, omeprazole blocks the transport of protons into the stomach, thereby reducing the production of hydrochloric acid. This inhibition is highly selective, making omeprazole effective in decreasing gastric acidity and raising the gastric pH, which can help in the management of various acid-related gastrointestinal disorders.
