The main mechanism of action of levosulpiride consists of blocking the D2 dopaminergic receptors, preferentially located on the presynaptic membranes in the dopaminergic pathways of the brain; this means that sulpiride is a selective autoreceptor blocker.

Levosulpiride is utilized for the following therapeutic indications:

• Used as an atypical antipsychotic for the treatment of schizophrenia
• Treatment of functional gastrointestinal disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
• Helps in managing dyspepsia and gastritis
• Used in combination therapy for various mental health disorders
• May aid in the treatment of anxiety disorders

Do not use in case of:

• Levosulpiride 50mg is not recommended for use in people with psychotic disorders, such as schizophrenia, as it may inadvertently worsen the positive symptoms of psychosis.
• This medicine can cause dizziness and drowsiness and can influence the ability to drive or operate machinery. If you feel dizzy or sleepy, avoid these activities.
• The medication can also occasionally cause a serious and potentially fatal allergic reaction called hypersensitivity syndrome. Symptoms include a severe rash, swollen lymph nodes, fever, and chills. If you experience any of these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.
• This medication can cause low blood pressure, especially when standing up from a lying or sitting position. This can lead to lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting.

• Vomiting
• Diarrhea

• Swelling of the limbs

Precautions and warnings for Levosulpiride:

• Levosulpiride may cause drowsiness and dizziness. Avoid operating heavy machinery or driving a car after taking this medication.
• Alcohol may increase the risk of side effects caused by this medication. It is recommended to avoid or limit alcohol consumption while taking Levosulpiride.
• This medication may cause low blood pressure, which can lead to dizziness and lightheadedness. Get up slowly from a sitting or lying position to prevent this from happening.

• Insulin or other diabetic drugs
• Central nervous system depressants
