Flunarizine is a selective calcium entry blocker with calmodulin binding properties and histamine H1 blocking activity. Flunarizine inhibits the influx of extracellular calcium through myocardial and vascular membrane pores by physically plugging the channel.

Flunarizine is utilized for the following therapeutic indications:

• Prophylaxis of migraine headaches
• Management of vestibular disorders
• Treatment of motion sickness
• Used in the treatment of certain types of epilepsy
• May help in reducing symptoms of cerebral insufficiency

Follow these dosage instructions:

• Adult Dosage

5-10 milligrams (mg) orally once in the evening. Your doctor will determine the length of the treatment and may adjust the dose after some time.

• Child Dosage

The dosage for the child is strictly recommended by the doctor.

Symptoms of overdose may include severe drowsiness, weakness, agitation, confusion, and fast heartbeat. Seek emergency medical help if you think you have taken too much of this medicine.

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don't remember missing the dose, don't double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

Take one capsule per day, with or without food as your doctor has recommended. Swallow the capsule with water and don't chew it. Take the medication regularly and at the same time each day to get the most benefit from it.

Do not use this medication if you have:

• A history of parkinsonism (progressive neuron degenerative disorder)
• Depression
• The acute phase of stroke

Common side effects include:

• Somnolence
• Increased appetite
• Fatigue
• Depression
• Muscular contractions
• Heartburn
• Dry mouth
• Skin rash

You should practice these cautions before taking the medicine:

• Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant or lactating, and there’s no safer alternative available.
• Talk to your doctor if you have hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to any of the components in the medicine.
• Talk to your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease.
• Do not drive after using this medication as it can affect your ability to drive.

• Sedatives.
• Anti-anxiety medicines.
• Muscle relaxants.
• Tranquilizers
• Anti-seizure medicines

Store the medicine at room temperature and keep out of direct sunlight, excessive heat, and moisture. Keep the medicine out of the reach of children and animals. Do not use the medication past its expiration date.
