It works by decreasing abnormal activity in the brain. It blocks the current flow through NMDA receptors involved in the brain function

• Alzheimer's disease

To be taken as per doctor's prescription

Signs of overdose include convulsions, increased sweating, low BP, muscle weakness, increased water in mouth, severe vomiting and troubled breathing. Seek immediate medical help in case of overdose

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don't remember missing the dose, don't double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.

Swallow with a glass of water with or without food.

You should not use this medicine if:

• You have epilepsy
• allergic reaction to memantine
• you ever had a heart attack or have heart failure
• kidney or liver problems

Side effects include:

• nausea, vomoiting or constipation
• stomach pain

Tell your doctor if you develop urinary tract infection during memantine use

Do not use in case you are already using:

• ketamine
• dextromethorphan
• aluminium hydroxide
• acetazolamide or hydrochlorothiazide
• diltiazem
