  • Description

    Ramipril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It works by blocking a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to tighten. As a result, ramipril relaxes the blood vessels. This lowers blood pressure and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart.

    Your doctor may suggest that you take your first dose before bedtime because it can make you feel dizzy. After the very first dose, you can take ramipril at any time during the day. Try to take it at the same time every day. You can take ramipril with or without food.

    • You are pregnant or planning to be
    • you have an allergic reaction to ACE inhibitors
    • hepatic failure
    • hypotension
    • hyperkalemia
    • neutropenia
    • pregnancy

    • dry cough
    • headaches
    • diarrhea
    • vomiting

    Tell your doctor right away if:

    • you face serious side effects such as nausea or vomiting that doesn’t stop, fainitng spells, muscle weakness, irregular heartbeats
    • you have any serious medical condition or taking any medication for those
    • you are on dialysis or have high potassium levels in blood
    • you are pregnant ot planning to conceive
