Doxofylline, a theophylline derivatve, is a bronchodilator. It inhibits phosphodiesterase enzymes which increases cAMP thereby causing bronchial smooth muscle relaxation leading to bronchodilation

It is used to treat:

• asthma
• breathing problems
• obstructive diseases of the lungs
• symptomatic relief for cough

To be used as per doctor's prescription

If potential overdose is established, seizures or arrhythmia may occur. These symptoms are the first sign of intoxication. Seek immediate medical attention in case of overdose

Consult a doctor in case of missed dose. Do not double doses

It should be taken at the same time each day preferably after food

Consult before using in case of:

• pregnancy
• lactating
• comorbidities
• liver or kidney impairment

Side effects include:

• headaches
• fast heart beat
• nausea, vomiting or stomach pain
• irritability
• difficulty sleeping

Seek immediate help in case of an allergic reaction

Do not use if you are already taking the following:

• ephedrine
• propranolol
• influenza vaccine
• erythromycin
• clindamycin
• allopurinol
• cimetidine
