Carvedilol is a type of medicine called a beta blocker. Like other beta-blockers, carvedilol works by slowing down the heart rate and making it easier for the heart to pump blood around the body. It also works like an alpha blocker to widen some of the blood vessels, lowering the blood pressure.

Carvedilol is utilized for the following therapeutic indications:
Follow these dosage instructions:
20 milligrams (mg) once a day for 7 to 14 days. Your doctor may adjust your dose as needed. However, the dose is usually not more than 80 mg once a day.
The dosage for the child is strictly recommended by the doctor.
Overdose symptoms include low blood pressure and heart rate, vomiting, loss of consciousness, seizures, and trouble breathing. Seek emergency medical help if you think you have taken too much of this medicine.
If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as possible the same day. If you don't remember missing the dose, don't double it. Consult your doctor on how to adjust the missing doses.
It's best to take carvedilol at the same time each day. If you take it twice a day, you'll usually have 1 dose in the morning and 1 dose in the evening. Leave 10 to 12 hours between doses if you can. Swallow the tablets whole with a drink of water.
