Dinoprostone is used to prepare the cervix for the induction of labor in pregnant women who are at or near term. This medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
Precautions
Dinoprostone administered by the vaginal route should be used with caution in the presence of cervicitis, infected endocervical lesions, or acute vaginitis. As with any oxytocic agent, dinoprostone should be used with caution in patients with compromised (scarred) uteri.
Side Effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, chills, abdominal pain, flushing, and dizziness may occur.
