Preparations like soohn halwa, gajar ka halwa, moong daal halwa, pinni are other forms of winter delicacies all involve the usage of desi ghee.

Coming towards my favourite part. 

I have personally been a big victim of dry brittle skin. So much so, that I was near to an experience of eczema through peeling and patchy skin. To my surprise, none of the slatherings of oils worked for my skin, unless I saw a very random home remedy that suggested the use of desi ghee. 

Of course, my first reaction was how crazy does it sound, but the need of the hour was quite compulsive and I had to give it try regardless. Just a single application brought me instant relief and healed my skin in no time. 

On my further research, I discovered how ghee has been a staple part of ancient beauty rituals and is still celebrated as a treasured skincare product. Due to its fatty acid composition, it nourishes the barriers to the skin. Since it is made directly out of cow milk, other properties of cow’s milk make it an excellent agent for healthy and supple skin.

Sharing one of my recipes here

  • Take half a teaspoon of desi ghee, you do not need much.
  • Mix aloe vera in it ( to help balance the stickiness of desi ghee)
  • Add some bean and mix it all up with a bit of rose water (this will help in suppressing the strong desi ghee smell).
  • Smooth it all over your face, keep it for 20 minutes maximum, and wash off your face.

You can also apply desi ghee directly to your dry area if you have extremely dry skin and leave it overnight for moisturizing results.

Desi Ghee for Hair

Desi ghee is amazingly rich in vitamin E, and as we know Vitamin E is one of the most nourishing ingredients for your skin especially for your scalp. Vitamin E is an active ingredient in many skin care and hair care products that means that applying it to your scalp can work wonders for your hair. In the Indo-Pak region, many women are advised to massage their scalps with desi ghee after they have undergone some hormonal imbalance and have lost a lot of hair.

  • Applying ghee to your scalp will help in sealing the moisture and makes your scalp smoother, less irritated with fewer flakes, and more silky vibrant hair.
  • Simply heat 1:2 ratio of desi ghee with some other lighter oil such as sweet almond oil and massage in your scalp region only for a couple of minutes, wrap your hair in a hot towel for a deep conditioning effect and wash your hair after 45 minutes. Repeat this method twice a week for amazing luscious locks of hair.

Desi Ghee for a Strong Gut Health System

Desi ghee is also nutrient-dense with butyric acid. Butyric acid is one of the most ideal health support to our intestines and gut health. Our colon cells use butyric acid as the primary source of energy. It further benefits;
