It was in 1968 that Dr. Ruth Pfau persuaded the Government of Pakistan to start a National Leprosy Control Progamme in partnership with MALC. Today Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre Karachi (MALC) is 64 bedded hospital and  now a hub of 157 leprosy control centers and with an experienced and dedicated 800+ staff members all over Pakistan.
