Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation was first established as an eight-bed facility in the Burns Unit of Civil Hospital Karachi. It got recognized as an institute by an act of the Sindh Assembly in 1991. The facility performs around 1100 dialysis per day. Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation has performed a total of 6511 to date. With its exceptional team of doctors, the total number of OPD patients treated free at the facility is 1577 per day.
