Chinese Medicine for COVID-19: An Anticipated Breakthrough

Professor Iqbal Chaudhary, Head of International Center for Biological and Chemical Science Karachi revealed to the media that the Chinese Herbal Medicine Jinhua Qinggan Granules is being considered effective against the infectious coronavirus.

 

This new treatment is manufactured by Juxiechang Pharmaceuticals co Ltd.

In China, this medicine is already in use for the effective treatment of Covid-19 patients.

With an efficacy rate of 82.67%, for mild to moderate coronavirus cases this medicine is being used. But the announcements of its availability in the market for the use of the general public are still to be made.

Dr. Azra who is the health minister of Sindh applauded the tireless and fruitful efforts of the researchers.  She thanked and also congratulated the researchers that were and still are associated with the project.

“I am also pleased to announce that my ministry has recently set up the Sino-Pakistan Traditional Medicine Centre at the ICCBS with Rs136 million with the objective of close collaboration in research and practice of traditional Chinese medicine for the benefit of the people of Sindh,”

Pakistan is currently battling the fifth wave of coronavirus which is fueled by the violent spread of omicron. With the daily toll of active cases being multiplied every passing day, the country is struggling to free itself from the clutches of coronavirus.

To this date, Pakistan has reported over 1.23 million infections and strict measures are still in pipelines by the upper management to tackle the issue.
