Punjab Government Approves Liver Transplant on Sehat Card

Lahore: The Government of Punjab approves the addition of complex liver transplant surgery to health card programmes. Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Chief Minister of Punjab grants the approval of this advanced procedure for health card holders as an extension of Sehat Sahulat Card.

This decision was made during a meeting between Punjab Chief Minister and private hospital vice president Dr Shazia Malik. On the occasion, Dr. Shazia assured all the support from private hospitals during operation and postoperative procedures for the patient.

Previously, thousands of people have been freely treated on Sehat Insaf Card. A variety of procedures were previously covered on Sehat Insaf card including open heart surgeries, cancer management, kidney transplant, neurosurgical procedures, stent insertion etc. Now complex liver transplant surgery has been added to the list. This will widen the treatment options available for underprivileged people and will improve their quality of life.

On this occasion, Chaudary Pervaiz Ilahi said that this addition will make it convenient for patients suffering from such ailments. For these procedures, there will be collaboration among doctors from private and government hospitals. This facilitation will not only cover the facilities provided during operation but will take in post-operation facilities as well.
