In a recent study conducted at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI), the recovery rates were tested in children that were previously affected with covid-19. The study stated that even if a small fraction of children under study is showing symptoms of long covid then a large population is at risk due to post-covid-stress.

According to CDC, the symptoms of corona tend to dissipate within weeks since the onset of the disease. But sometimes the patients can feel additional symptoms alongside the usual ones. These additional symptoms are fatigue,  issues of the heart and lungs, and neurological symptoms. These symptoms mostly stay with the individual even after significant time has passed.

CDC also reported that the chances of the development of post corona symptoms are less likely in minors and teens. But children can experience various other long-term health issues after the prevalence of covid-19.  A significant finding of the research is that in teens and children the symptoms of long covid rarely stay for longer than 12 weeks.

The co-author of the report Dr. Petra Zimmermann said that there is a need for a clear understanding of Long Covid and its impact on all age groups. At this instance, we lack the needed data and therefore the government should fund further research groups that provide the necessary information.

So, the general public should be made aware of the fact that long covid exists and that you have to be careful about it.
