The new numbers have raised concerns worldwide as the NCOC is already gearing up to impose a new and improved set of SOPs in the next 48 hours.
In the span of the last 24 hours, 5,034 new cases have been reported after the successful conduction of 53,253 tests. With this, the positivity ratio is about to reach 10%.

Pakistan was starting to recover from coronavirus and the condition nationwide was also improving but things are going south. It was on May 8, 2021, that things were this hectic with a positivity rate that was over 9%.
With 10 more registered death, the death toll now stands at 29,029. The number of overall cases is also climbing day by day with 1.33 million. The rate of infection spread is highly apparent in Karachi with a 38.79% positivity rate. Then comes Hyderabad and Lahore with 14 and 12.87% respectively.
The provinces are now instructed to revamp their SOPs. furthermore, a meeting has been called by NCOC to decide the future of schools and the respective guidelines that might be needed.
All the participants of the meeting have decided on a new set of NPIs keeping in context the severe prevalence of the disease. The meeting concluded with the decision that the NPIs will be enforced by the provinces after the conclusion of the whole consultative process.
In the meantime, the fate of the closing of schools still remains uncertain.
