Tehran: During a Webinar conducted on October 2, Iran and Pakistan debated ways to improve the collaboration on medical equipment.

The Head of the Healthcare Devices Association of Pakistan Masood Ahmed attended the webinar. According to the Foreign Office, Ahmed announced his willingness to use the Iranian equipment, stating that “the association will cooperate and support the registration of Iranian products in Pakistan and the joint production.”

He also added that 'Pakistan imported more than $1.4 billion of medical equipment in 2021, while China, Turkey, and Italy had the major share of the export of medical equipment products to Pakistan.‘

Pakistan has already exported medical equipment for a total worth of $500 million to different countries. Now, this has grown to 40% compared to 2020.

The Head of the Healthcare Devices Association asked the Iranian companies to attend the Health Asia 2022 exhibition that will take place from October 13 to 15.

This three-day event is one of the biggest annual gatherings of the relevant stakeholders and is the most important medical event in Pakistan.

If observed on a global scale, out of 500,000 medical equipment, 56 percent of items that are available in the market have Iranian versions. As far as pharmaceuticals are concerned 70 percent of Iran’s $4.5 billion markets are domestic products and in 2018 a total of 97 percent of the pharmaceuticals were manufactured locally.

According to the vice presidency, a total of 227 knowledge-based firms are supplying health equipment to health centers across the country.

Iranian companies that produce medical equipment are exporting it to almost 54 countries across the world.
