The main outcome of the study is that people who have a moderate body mass index can reverse this disease simply by just losing weight.

Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. In this medical condition, the body is not able to produce the right amount of insulin. Insulin production is very important for glucose maintenance in the body and bones.

Therefore people who have this disease are on the verge of getting affected by stroke. Cardiac issues, renal failures, and bladder problems.

For a long time, scientists and researchers have believed that there is no cure for type 2 diabetes. This mindset will be changed with this new research. The new study suggests that if people who are obese, lose their weight they can not only treat but reverse diabetes.

This study was conducted with 23 test subjects, out of which 12 had type 2 diabetes and a BMI of 24.5. The control group consisted of 11 people which had the same age and BMI.

With a consistent low-calorie diet, the people were asked to maintain their weight for 6 weeks. The cycle continued two to three times until the body weight was reduced by 10-15%.

Results of this study were highly successful with diabetic people losing more fat around their organs than normal.

This lead can change the common perception that diabetes is due to obesity. Having too much fat around your liver can be a more valid reason for this disease. Due to excessive fat deposition around the liver, the body is unable to produce the right amount of insulin.

This research was made global at the Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes.
