Officials of the State Department during a Health Dialogue in Washington between the US and Pakistan made an announcement about donating 16m doses of COVID to vaccinate children.

Partnership with COVAX will help to deliver the vaccine to Pakistan. By the USAID, the US has already delivered 61.5m Covid doses for adults in Pakistan atop $ 4.6m for 4 testing labs.

Further in line with the pledge of global vaccine equity, “USAID will also be funding the vaccine efforts of Pakistan amid its crippling financial crunch”.

Further, the US believes that such aid can help Pakistan in diagnosing more COVID-19 cases and other communicable diseases.

Reports say that more discussions at the Health Dialogue centered on setting up a Pakistani CDC, which refers to the Center for Disease Control.

The representatives of Pakistan and US also considered child and maternity care, communicable and non-communicable diseases, childhood immunization, etc.

US Department of Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary led the meeting about Global Affairs Pace, co-led by Assistant Administrator of the US Agency for USAID Atul Gawande, representative of the FDA and CDC.

Covid vaccines for children can help to reduce the risk of cases. Pakistan is working hard to prevent the potential damage caused by Covid. According to WHO, Pakistan strongly fought against the spread of COVID-19. More USAID for children vaccination can also help Pakistan to get control over the COVID-19 situation.
